Written in Bone

While writing in stone did little to improve the quality of life in Ancient Egypt, there is something that modern men and women can do to preserve the closest things we have in our bodies to ancient monoliths, and that is determination of bone mineral density (BMD) via noninvasive techniques such as dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA), single-energy x-ray absorptiometry (SXA), quantitative computed tomography (CT), and ultrasound in order to plan subsequent therapeutic intervention.
